TEAM REGISTRATION

BIG NEWS! THE TEAM DIVISION IS BACK for 2019!

Skipio, our Title Sponsor, is throwing down “the gauntlet” to businesses and individuals!

Think you can ride faster and eat more donuts than Team Skipio? Prove it on August 17!

Teams will consist of FIVE members.

You can have an all male, all female, or coed team.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category.

Bragging rights if your team beats Skipio!

Some disclaimers:

If you ride as a team, you are not eligible for the individual classification awards. This should help speed up results at the end of the event.

All Five team members must complete all three laps of the course.

You are not required to stop and eat donuts, however, we have found that eating even a couple donuts increases your chance of finishing on the podium!

Think you have what it takes?

FAMILY/INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION – Register up to 10 individuals/family members. We encourage all to participate. While we do not have a separate category for bikes pulling trailers, you are welcome to join us. You do not need to register anyone who is not pedaling! If you have a traditional bike with a trailer where someone is pedaling, you need to register as a Family / Individual. Only one registration. (These are not considered TANDEM)

TANDEM PAIRS REGISTRATION – We enjoy having our Tandem Pairs each year. In order to be considered Tandem, the bike must be a true tandem bike. Two wheels, two handlebars, two sets of pedals, two seats! Traditional bicycles with a single wheel trailer where someone can ride and pedal is not a tandem bike. If this is you, or you are riding a traditional bike and pulling a trailer, please register under the Family/Individual Registration category.

JUNIOR DIVISION – this year we will continue to have a Junior Division. The Junior Division will consist of a partial race and will be open to the younger age groups who want to participate – but may not be able to ride the full three laps! This will consist of TWO Laps with the chance to eat donuts one time! This will help to facilitate getting the younger riders off the course sooner and provide for a safer overall experience for our participants.

UNICYCLE DIVISION – the past couple of years, we have had Unicyclists participate. This is unique as it is hard to ride a unicycle for a long distance. What we have found works best is to give the Unicyclist a 10-minute clock to eat as many donuts as they can at the beginning of the race, then have them ride one lap (approximately seven miles) and award based upon adjusted time. Prize and bragging rights currently go to the top unicyclist! If we have more than three unicyclists register by the beginning of July 2019, we will award to the top three in traditional podium finish!

*** Added FOR 2018 – Awards for TOP 3 MALE and FEMALE – NON ADJUSTED TIMES! ***

For 2018, we are going to test the waters for the fastest nonadjusted times! This is for those who do not want to eat donuts and want to ride fast. We are first and foremost a family friendly fundraising frenzied bunch of donut eating cyclists! However, for those who want to go fast, we will add a category for you and award podium finish to the top 3 Male and top 3 Female cyclists. We will not break this division down by age categories! You will still need to go through the start finish line so we can clock your individual lap times! We might even add a lap or two for this division!

All Prizes are awarded based on “Adjusted Times”. This means that If you just ride the course and are the first to cross the finish line, but you don’t eat any donuts, there is a good chance that you will not be the overall winner of the race. Donut Eating is a critical part of the overall chance to win prizes. With adjusted times being negative for the overall winner in years past, it is something that you need to consider if you are serious about a Podium Finish! (Added in 2018 – Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female – Non-Adjusted Time Awards)

Utah Tour De Donut

It is with mixed emotions that we are writing this post.

We have determined, under the current circumstances, that we will not hold the Utah Tour de Donut in 2020.

There are many factors which have been reviewed in making this determination and we feel the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and sponsors is of the utmost importance.

We are hopeful we will bring the event back in 2021.

Thank you for your participation at any level in the past. We have appreciated your support in our event as we have raised funds for a variety of wonderful causes over the years.

So, so sad about this - but of course we totally get it. Many many thanks to the organizing group, we love the Tour de Donut!

My disappointment is immeasurable. I probably won't even leave the house today.

We were looking to finalize a June event this year... but with everything going on, we have decided it is not feasible to get everything finalized in time. We apologize.

A couple of our sponsors have asked up to move the event up, or they cannot sponsor. Once school starts in the fall, access to the Lone Peak High School becomes difficult on the weekends. We never know until after July 1, if we can use the facility... which makes it difficult to plan and prepare. Our police departments would love to participate, but at the end of the summer, many of the departments cannot spare them to participate... We are trying to encourage the high school cycling teams to participate, and several want to, but once July hits, their season runs almost every weekend through October... We are trying to find ways to broaden our reach and most of those ways point to an earlier event rather than a later one.

Oh man... I was so hoping to race it this year.

Ever wonder where the Five.12 Foundation got it's name and start?

Here is the experience that started it all!Have you ever thought about what 5 dollars and 12 cents can do for someone?

Years ago, founder Nick Greer had an experience raising money for a dear friend who was diagnosed with leukemia. He was 26 years old with a young family.

But he didn’t have insurance to pay for treatment.

In just two short days they raised over $64,000. It was unreal. People were so generous in their thoughts, words, and actions.

But on the second day, Nick’s daughter, who was six years old at the time, came up to him. She had something in her hand.

She handed it to him and said, “Dad, it’s everything I have. Will this be enough money to save Eric’s life?”

It was 5 dollars and 12 cents.

Here was a six-year-old girl with such great faith to give back, to love, to help people that she barely even knew.

$64,000 was a lot of money. But that 5 dollars and 12 cents? That was everything she had and she was willing to use it to help someone in need.

For that reason we created the Five.12 Foundation. Because even 5 dollars and 12 cents can make an impact and save people’s lives.

Doing good in the world is what we are all about!

Since 2005, the Rotary Club of Mount Timpanogos has delivered dictionaries to 3rd Grade Students in Northern Utah County. It is that time of year again and with the help of local Girl Scouts, we placed stickers in Dictionaries and have them ready for delivery and a presentation to schools in and around American Fork, Utah!

We also put stickers in books that will be delivered to 1st Grade Students in and around American Fork that will be from "The Book Fairy". One book a month for eight months out of the school year to help build each student's personal library!

This is funded with grants from the American Fork PARC Tax and the help of many hands including the Friends of the American Fork Library and the Rotary Club!

Along with "Combating Hunger" through the Utah Tour de Donut, We want to improve literacy in the young members of our community!

Thank you for your support!
