The big day is almost here!!! July 13, 2013 is TOMORROW.
Donuts have been ordered and the final push is on the way to get everything ready for tomorrow – RACE DAY!
We hope you are prepared with a bike that is in good condition. It looks like it could be overcast and a little cooler than we are used to on a July day – but we’ll take it.
Park in the parking lots surrounding the event – please DO NOT PARK in the parking lot where the DONUT STATION and SPONSOR booths / CHECK-IN and DAY OF REGISTRATION booths are.
Check-In and Day-OF Registration will start at 6:30 AM and end about 8:15 AM. We will have the Teams and Tandem Pairs check-in at one table and at a series of separate tables we will have the Individual / Family registrants check-in at a series of tables broken down by sections of the alphabet by last name.
We are starting the ride at 8:30 AM. 30 minutes earlier than prior events. While we have requests for 8:00 AM start times, we will see how 8:30 goes this time around and consider for next year.
NEW THIS YEAR: We will have EMT’s from the American Fork Fire Department on hand to handle any injuries and first aid needs. They will have an ambulance if those services are necessary. We hope everyone is safe – but injuries do happen.
NEW THIS YEAR: We have split the awards out into smaller age increments – so, we will be giving out 53 Awards this year. So, stick around after the event to see if you, or someone you know, are a winner!
NEW THIS YEAR: Gluten Free Donuts – we will have a separate station for Gluten Free Donuts. These donuts have been ordered by those who registered and requested them. Participants will have a separate colored “bib” that will permit them to be at the gluten free donut station. If you don’t have a special colored bib, DO NOT go near the gluten free donuts! We do not want cross contamination with the traditional donuts!
AS ALWAYS, Macey’s In Pleasant Grove bakes the traditional donuts fresh the morning of the event. 1268 Donuts were ordered for this year’s event!
Gluten-Free Heaven – the bakery who are donating the Gluten Free Donuts will bake the donuts on site before the event on Saturday. Can’t get much more fresh than that! At least 125 donuts will be made for this year’s event.
We hope to be finished with the race and presentation of awards around 11:30. The race will be timed again this year – 2 hour time limit. If you do not cross the FINISH LINE in that time, you will not be eligible for the Podium Finish or the “King” / “Queen” Donut Awards. (If it takes you longer than THREE minutes to eat a donut – MOVE ON! You only get a three minute deduction for each donut consumed!)
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning! We will have people on-site and setting up starting around 5:00 AM on Saturday!
